Located on Taylors Arm Rdm, Macksville about 42km from Nambucca Heads. We decided to stop by here for lunch on our long drive back to Sydney.
It is located literally in the middle of nowhere! Our GPS told us the spot it would be but we had to drive for a further 3 mins before we came across it. You can definitely spot their handmade sign before you pull into the carpark. (see pictures) YES, they do still serve beer! We arrived at 11.45am, So we decided it was early enough to grab a beer and to order our food. They have Murray's beer on tap. For lunch we got the Pub with no beer burger with chips and sausage, peas, mash and gravy. Food was quick and good. The place was so quiet! We thought it would be busy because it was Sunday lunch but you had more tourists arriving then locals. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a lots of tables to choose from to sit, either indoor, outdoor and on the verandah/porch. The furniture on the verandah looks to be hand made with stools carved out of tree trunks! Very arty. Glad to say that we crossed this pub off our list! :)

Branching out from their famous joint out in Lane Cove to a new place out in Hunters Hill!
A whole 4.8km! That's roughly around 11 minutes drive depending on Sydney traffic. (If you don't believe me you can check google maps - it doesn't lie) We called at 6.40pm to book a table as its always best to book a table, was told they can sit us down at 8pm? Sure why not, you can always go to the pub next door (Hunters Hill Hotel) to have a drink or two and visualize which delicious flavours you will be eating shortly. Our table was not ready until 8.10pm but we were happy to wait instead of sit outside as it was freaking cold! Place was still packed and loud at this hour. Between the 4 of us we decided a metre long pizza was in order. The 3 flavours chosen was: Quattro Formaggi (San Marzano Tomato, fior di latte, ham, sausage, mild salami, hot salami& basil) Diavola (San Marzano Tomato, fior di latte, hot salami, olives & basil and the (Fior di latte, prosciutto parma, rocket, parmesan & basil on a white base). Pizza came out in under 10mins! Perfecto! All flavours we superb! The Diavolo was spicy hot! I could only have one slice, 4 cheese pizza amazing and the best would be the proscuitto. Staff are friendly, efficient and loud (yes majority are Italian). If you have yet to try Via Napoli - I suggest you get on it quick smart young man/lady! Address and opening times can be found here: weebly Cool little Cafe located on the main strip in Mudgee. - Family friendly - Serve organic juices - They use Toby's Estate coffee - Open Monday - Sat 7am to 5pm & - Sunday 7.30pm - 4pm - Outdoor and Indoor seating - Has a play area for the kids and a sign on the door that welcomes breast feeding mothers. Went in on a Sunday about 9am and there were a lot of empty tables so we sat near the back wall where they have a board of arts and crafts with various different types of puppets on the wall (these are available for purchase if you feel inclined). We got the big breakfast and the poached eggs with bacon and avocado. Coffee was good and so was the food, Also got a freshly squeezed juice for the day which was celery, pineapple and orange - very refreshing way to start the day. By the time we left the place was packed! Overall a good first time experience. Address details can be found here: /mudgee.html Finally, Messina have opened up a store in Parramatta.

Combo's we tried: Salted caramel flavour with milk chocolate and coconut Panna cotta with milk chocolate and peanuts Blood orange sorbet with dark chocolate and coconut You get given the stix in a little paper carrier in case you spill it everywhere ;P. All three amazing flavours! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. P.s They only take cash! Opening times can be found here: weebl Located at 225 George St beside The Morrison bar and Oyster Room we missed the entry so walked through from The Morrison, arrived about 7.30pm ish there were no tables so we sat at the bar. Tiny little spot i would have to say. Thankfully a couple left so we snagged their table. Order at the bar and grab a number. Ben and I both got "The Black Widow" which is the charcoal bun with ground beef, Chipotle mayo and Jalapenos and the duck fat chips to share! Did not have to wait long, they arrived we devoured them and then we commented. - The charcoal bun doesn't really have a strong taste to it but it felt a wee bit odd eating a black bun alas that also made it feel special - Ground beef and chipotle together great combo! - Not a fan of jalapenos but Ben loved them - Duck fat chips - mmmm tasty! Overall a great first time experience, we missed the deep fried pickles so will have to suss that out next time! . P.s - Don't go and try to see Vivid on a Saturday like we attempted to! Its CRAZY!! People everywhere!!! Address and opening details can be found here: weebly I follow them on Instagram so when they mentioned they open on Sundays now from 8am, I had to investigate ;D. Brunch you say?! Located opposite the train station on Wentworth St. You will not see a sign but you can spot the outdoor seating and the colourful graffiti art wall! Upon arrival there were a few seats inside so my sister and i opted to go in. For starters i got a cappuccino and my sister got the African tea (came out with ice) she noted it was a bit sweet but we just added water and it was fine. Everything on the menu sounded good but I ordered the Barossa Valley cured Schultz bacon, fried free-range eggs, house made tomato and red capsicum relish with aioli on schiacciata bread (the picture is pretty plain). My sister had the Crispy skin pork belly on house made baked beans with poached eggs, cavolo nero and a seeded baguette! WOW. Both meals were divine! Yum will definitely have to come back and try the baked eggs as noted by the waitress as one of their top dishes! Great first time experience! Will have to go again another Sunday ~ That way its a bit quiet, I can only imagine what the weekdays would be like. They also have Tea and Coffee Tasting menu - sounds exotic! Address details can be found here weebly After seeing many reviews about this place, It was time I tried it for myself! Located on 96 Liverpool St, Sydney (opposite World Tower). When we arrived which was just before there was not much of a queue so between ordering and waiting took around 7 minutes. Not bad! Its a small shop front where you order your lovely chicken with the various range of spices as below: Little Spicy Medium Spicy Spicy or Extra Spicy I got the Hungry combo and opted for the little spicy because that's all i could handle. Once you pay you get a receipt with your number and a small plastic bag. Once you receive your chicken you will understand why the plastic bag is needed :P The chicken breast is massive! As seen in the picture it was twice the size of my hand. This is so boss! I also got the sweet potato fries which tasted really sweet, almost like they had sprinkled chocolate on it? How, Why? I don't know, this is definitely one to consult the 8 ball! Delicious, easy, quick, (maybe not so healthy) dinner all for the bargain price of $10.90. Worth a visit, if you are in the area. If not you must make it your life's mission to get there! Opening hours can be found here: weebly What is Gyoza for those that do not know? Its pretty much a fried dumpling or pot sticker. So if you like yum cha you will love this place! Located on Bayswater Rd just behind the Coca-Cola sign. Harajuku Gyoza is a happy place and they want you to be "happy in the tummy" as their slogan suggests, even the dumpling on the window has a smiling face! They also mention, you must 'Come in hungry like Godzilla"....:P They do not take bookings so we rocked up around 7pm and there were few seats at the bar or stand alone tables. This place is great for nibbles, lunch, dinner and groups. The plates are quirky with different pictures of Japanese themed such as buildings, Harajuku girls, scenery and so fourth. This place does remind me of being in Shinjuku. Any quirky thing is when someone orders a sake (i think could be umeshu) the waitresses start screaming in Japanese. Quite strange but hilarious at the same time! To get things rolling we got Kirin on Tap and Rising Sun pale ale then for food: 1 x Grilled pork gyoza (5 pieces) $8 1 x Poached duck gyoza (5 pieces) $8 1 x Vege grilled gyoza (5 pieces) $8 1 x Chilli Chicken Kaarage $9 1 x Edamame beans $4 That was for 2 and that was quite filling! We also did not want to fill up too much because we wanted to try out their desserts! For dessert we got the Nutella Banana gyoza with ice cream ($9 for 3 pieces). It was everything you can expect - warm gooey nutella with bits of banana through it. YUM! Pity there was only 3 :( I give this place a thumbs up.Definitely will be back to try the sake cocktails and the frozen beer....hmm very interesting. Address details can be found here: weeb First visit and it was a success! Took us a few extra minutes to find it as we went down the wrong end of Dixon St, alas, finally walking through a very crowded food court we were starting to doubt ourselves if the place was even in here! .... and then like magic as we veered down the bend there it was in all its glory! Tucked away in the corner amongst all various Chinese food outlets. Small queue, so we got our order in i had the Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen Noodle with soft boiled egg and my partner got the BBQ Pork Ramen and gyoza to share. Wow such a thick garlicy broth with oodles and oodles of noodles! Delicious! My partner and I both agreed that the flavour of the Garlic Tonkotsu was way better that the BBQ Pork. Gyoza was great too. Such a cheap and cheerful dinner option. I was indeed noodled out! Address & Opening hours can be found in my Eat Sydney Page: weebly- |
